I just got home from 3 1/2 days with 44 9-10 year olds of which 21 girls were under my wing .We were at the South Fork of the American River in Coloma, CA. This is where gold was first discovered and this field trip is part of the 4th graders in Alexander’s class’s lesson on the CA gold rush. California kids can tell you what kind of mining was done, who was there, what Native American tribe lived there.
I have a half a dozen topics that I want to talk about but they each involve using my brain. My brain is still infusing with coffee and so far the synapses have not begun firing. So, instead I’ll mention a parenting matter. Music classes.
My nine year old slept in the dog crate last night. Alexander announced at dinner that he wished to sleep in the crate. Perhaps this entitles me to the Best Mommy Award for, not only agreeing to it, but photographing it as well. Some might balk at this interesting sleeping arrangement.
