Internet ConnectivityTuesday, July 6th, 2010
Argh – I have been offline intermittently for the past week. Alexander and I are in South Haven Michigan on Lake Michigan for several weeks. Until last summer we had only dial-up Internet, which was simply torture. Although we are on the lakefront and near a good size community, our immediate area is very rural. It takes 10 minutes off the main road onto a windy dirt road to get all the way out to us.
In years past we had no phone machine, no fax machine and minimal connectivity. But because of my work now, I do need to be more connected. We took a radical move last summer (and let me tell you it was not easy to do) and got an internet satellite dish. The problem is that we are subject to the whims of Mother Nature regarding our ability to connect with the satellite. I also have found that what I consider to be “normal” family usage is not what the satellite company does.
So with that, I have to say that summer has officially begun at my neck of the woods and that usually means good stories and interesting adventures. I could begin with the tale of simply traveling here (just 2 days ago) with Alexander, 2 dogs, 5 bags and (almost) a lacrosse stick but I am not sure if I am ready to relive it.
Let’s just say that our “most memorable” mommy moments are not always our “best” mommy moments.
