I have cold. More than that, I have a bad cold, complete with laryngitis and the feeling, as my mum has always said, of “the utter lack of cheer”. My having laryngitis means that I can’t talk which is one of the things I do on a regular basis. Oddly, not being able to talk also makes it difficult for me to write. As I write I tend to speak out loud to nobody in particular. It helps me focus. Focus isn’t happening today. Mrs. Grass’s chicken soup is, as it has been every time I have been sick since I was a child.
Yesterday, I was scheduled to film a series of one-minute clips to be used as podcasts. Having laryngitis (of course for the first time this year) on precisely the day I needed my voice was problematic. We have rescheduled the shoot for next week. Since I have media on my mind at the moment I want to let you know what work I have done recently.
In October I spoke with Katie Britton of WAMC radio in New York. We talked about everything from why women have become so anxious during pregnancy to what their spouses might be feeling. Also in October I joined Marysol Castrol on Good Morning America Now and spoke about various ways to economize during your pregnancy. Then there was the coverage of Bristol Palin in the January 12th editions of People, In Touch and Us Weekly magazines as well as on Page Six of the New York Post. The Joy of Pregnancy was awarded the 2008 Best Book Award from the National Book Club. This month Pregnancy Magazine gave a very nice review of The Joy of Pregnancy.
