Fox 17 Morning News Interview: Preparing For BirthSaturday, August 22nd, 2009
This is the second installment (of three) of my interview with Fox 17 Morning News. In this segment I was happy to share some thoughts about preparing for the birth of your baby. I have found that this particular topic can be loaded and confusing for many women. Pregnancy information is pretty straightforward and women tend not to get too many “opinions” about what they “should” or “should not” do. But all that changes when labor is upcoming.
I talk about this a lot but opinions and judgments and “certainty” seem to inundate women during this third trimester. Others; often well meaning friends, relatives and frequently total strangers feel free to express what they think is better or best. As you know, I get pretty passionate about this. It is very important for a woman to be well informed about her childbirth choices; however, it is crucial that she be supported in whatever her choices and decisions are. There is no right or “better” way to give birth.
In keeping common sense at the forefront I have blogged before about how to choose a childbirth class that is right for you, what topics are important to be covered in a class , what types of classes are available and what additional things might be important to find out more about.
